BASIC OPERATION
■ Receiving and transmitting
CAUTION:
Transmttng wthout an antenna may dam-
age the transcever.
q Push [POWER] to turn power ON.
w Set the audo and squelch levels.
➥ Rotate [SQL] fully counterclockwse n advance.
➥ Rotate [VOL] to adjust the audo output level.
➥ Rotate [SQL] clockwse untl the nose dsappears.
e Whle pushng and holdng [H/L], push [CH/WX•DUAL•
U/I/C] to change the channel group. (p. 7)
r Rotate [DIAL] to select the desred channel. (pgs. 6, 7)
• When recevng a sgnal, "BUSY" appears and audo s emtted
from the speaker.
• Further adjustment of [VOL] may be necessary.
t Push [LO/DX•IC•SCRM] to turn the receve Attenuator
functon ON or OFF, f necessary.
• "LOC" appears when the receve Attenuator functon s n use.
y Push [H/L] to select the output power f necessary.
• "25W" or "1W" appears when hgh or low power s selected, re-
spectvely.
• Choose low power for short range communcatons, choose
hgh power for longer dstance communcatons.
• Some channels are for low power only.
u Push and hold [PTT] to transmt, then speak nto the m-
crophone.
• "TX" appears.
• Channel 70 cannot be used for transmsson other than DSC.
i Release [PTT] to receve.

Smplex channels, 3, 21, 23, 61, 64, 81, 82 and 83 CAN-
NOT be lawfully used by the general publc n U.S.A. wa-
ters.
IMPORTANT: To maxmze the readablty of your trans-
mtted sgnal, pause a few sec. after pushng [PTT], hold
the mcrophone 2 to 4 nches (5 to 10 cm) from your
mouth and speak nto the mcrophone at a normal voce
level.
