■ Optional voice scrambler operation

D Activating the scrambler
The optonal voce scrambler provdes prvate communca-
tons. In order to receve or send scrambled transmssons you
must first actvate the scrambler functon. To actvate the func-
ton, an optonal scrambler unt s necessary. See pgs. 57, 62
for settng the scrambler unt. Ask your dealer for detals.
The scrambler functon automatcally turns OFF when
Channel 16 or 70 s selected.
q Rotate [DIAL] to select an operatng channel other than
Channel 16 and 70.
w Whle pushng and holdng [H/L], push [LO/DX•IC•SCRM]
to turn the optonal scrambler functon ON.
• "SCRAM" appears.
e To turn the scrambler functon OFF, repeat step w.
• "SCRAM" dsappears.

D Programming scrambler codes
There are 32 codes (1 to 32) or 128 codes (0 to 127)* aval-
able for programmng when an optonal scrambler unt s
nstalled. In order to understand one another, all transcevers
n your group must have the same scramble code. Ths func-
ton may not be avalable dependng on dealer settng.
*Depends on the nstalled scrambler unt.
q Turn power OFF.
w Whle pushng [16•9], turn power ON to enter set mode.
e After the dsplay appears, release [16•9].
r Rotate [DIAL] to select the "Scrambler Code," push
[DIAL•ENTER].
t Rotate [DIAL] to select the desred scrambler code.
y Push [DIAL•ENTER] to set and ext the scrambler code
tem.
u Push [CLR], or rotate [DIAL] to select "Exit," push
[DIAL•ENTER] to ext set mode.
