Boom Components
7 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane
to the rod end of the upper extension cylinder.
8 Using the overhead crane, lift the extension
cylinder to clear the saddle blocks.
9 Support and slide the upper extension
cylinder out of the secondary boom and place
it on a structure capable of supporting it.
Crushing hazard. The extension
cylinder could fall when removed
from the secondary boom if not
properly supported.
Note: During removal, the overhead crane strap
will need to be adjusted for proper balancing.
10 Repeat steps 6 through 9 for the remaining
secondary boom extension cylinders.
Note: The secondary boom extension cylinders
must be installed in the same order they were
removed.

Note: When installing the middle and upper
secondary boom extension cylinders, be sure the
grooved wear pads are correctly aligned with the
channels on the top of the cylinders.
