Ethernet transmit/receive activity LED: When this green LED is on, there is activity
between the computer and the network.
Ethernet speed 1 Gbps LED: When this LED is on, the Ethernet speed is 1 Gbps.
When this LED is off, the Ethernet speed is 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps.
Diskette drive activity LED: When this LED is on, it indicates that the diskette drive
is in use.
Diskette-eject button: Press this button to release a diskette from the drive.
CD-ROM drive activity LED: When this LED is on, it indicates that the CD-ROM
drive is in use.
CD-eject button: Press this button to release a CD from the drive.
Power-control button: Press this button to turn the computer on or off manually.
Power-on LED: This LED indicates when your computer is turned on.
Hard disk drive activity LED: When this LED is flashing, the hard disk drive is in
use.

Setting the voltage-selection switch

Check the position of the voltage-selection switch beside the power cord connector.
Use a ballpoint pen to slide the switch, if necessary.

Turning on your computer

To start your computer, turn on all peripheral devices and press the power-control
button on your computer. For the location of the power-control button, see "Computer
controls and LEDs" on page 9.
What you see and hear when you start your computer depends on the features
installed and the settings in the Configuration/Setup Utility program.
If power-on self-test (POST) detects a problem, there might be a series of beeps or no
beep, and a numeric error message might appear on the screen. Write down any beep
series and error code numbers with descriptions, and then see "Troubleshooting
chart" on page 84 for the explanation of error codes.

If the voltage supply range in your location is 90–137 V ac, set the switch to 115 V.
If the voltage supply range in your location is 180–265 V ac, set the switch to
230 V.
