VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT/

IDLING SPEED ADJUSTMENT

6. Adjust:
D Valve clearance
*****************************************************
Adjustment steps:
D Loosen the locknut 1 .
D Turn the adjuster 3 in or out with the valve
adjusting tool 2 until specified clearance is
obtained.
Turning in ! Valve clearance is
decreased.
Turning out ! Valve clearance is
increased.
Valve adjusting tool:
90890-01311
D Hold the adjuster to prevent it from moving
and tighten the locknut.
14 Nm (1.4 mSkg)
D Measure the valve clearance.
D If the clearance is incorrect, repeat above
steps until specified clearance is obtained.

7. Install:
D Valve cover (intake side) 1
D O-ring 2
8. Install:
D Valve cover (exhaust side)
10 Nm (1.0 mSkg)
D O-ring
D Spark plug
D Timing check window screw
D Crankcase filter element
D Crankcase filter cover seal
D Crankcase filter cover

IDLING SPEED ADJUSTMENT
1. Start the engine and let it warm up for sev-
eral minutes.
2. Attach:
D Inductive tachometer to the spark plug
lead.
Inductive tachometer:
90890-03113
INSP
ADJ
10 Nm (1.0 mSkg)
18 Nm (1.8 mSkg)
7 Nm (0.7 mSkg)
