System Memory
The server board provides four memory channels, each with two slots. Channels A and B with
DIMM A1, A, B1 and B are assigned to processor 1. Channels D and E with DIMM D1, D, E1
and E are assigned to processor . Channels D and E can only be used if processor is populated.
If two processors are populated, then they can both access the entire memory via Intel
Interconnect (Intel
Within a channel, DIMM 1 must be populated before DIMM can be used.
DIMM configuration is shown in the following figure.

Available Memory Modules
•
1.5 V DDR DIMMs, registered (RDIMMs) or unbuffered (UDIMMs, with or without ECC)
•
Mixing of RDIMMs and UDIMMs is not permitted
•
If at least one UDIMM is installed without ECC, the entire memory is operated without ECC.
•
The following DIMM and DRAM technologies are supported:
•
RDIMMs:
- Single, dual and quad rank
- x4 or x8 DRAM with 1 Gbit and Gbit technology, no support for Gbit DRAM-based GB or
4 GB RDIMMs
- DDR 1 (only single and dual rank), DDR 1066 and DDR 800
• UDIMMs:
- Single and dual rank
- x8 DRAM with 1 Gbit or Gbit technology
- DDR 1, DDR 1066 and DDR 800
