BATTERY CHARGING

■ Regular charging

Prior to using the transceiver for the first time, the battery
pack must be fully charged for optimum life and operation.
D Battery icon
When the transceiver's power is OFF, the charging icon se-
quentially shows "
while charging. The icon disappears when the battery pack is
completely charged.
When the transceiver power is ON, the battery icon sequen-
tially shows "

and the icon disappears when the battery pack is completely
charged.
D Charging note
• Be sure to turn the transceiver power OFF. Otherwise the
battery pack will not be charged completely or will take
much longer to charge.
• External DC power is possible when using an optional CP-
12L, CP-19R or OPC-254L. The attached battery pack is
also charged simultaneously, except during transmit (see p.
18 for more details).
• The external DC power supply voltage must be between
10–16 V to charge the battery pack and when operating us-
ing an OPC-254L.
