Saving Format Commands

The printer can store up to 128 format files into the printer's RAM. Once stored, these files
can be loaded from memory increasing throughput. With the use of the battery backed
RAM option, the printer will retain these stored formats even after power has been cycled.
The printer can also be configured through software switch #2 (^D22 command) to
automatically process the format once the printer has powered-up. The printer treats the
stored formats as if they were sent through the serial port.
The maximum number of stored files depends on the size of the files and the amount of
memory available. The model 322M provides 512K of RAM, which offers about 448K of
memory available for file storage.

Send Saved Format to Serial Port: The ^Axx selects the memory slot (1-

terminal to interrogate what formats have been stored in the printer's memory.

Process Saved Format: The ^Axx selects which memory slot (1-128) to
process from the printer's memory.

Save Format File: The ^Axx selects which memory slot (1-128) that the
format is to be saved in the printer's memory. The format file must be
terminated by an ESC (HEX 1B) character in order to save formats.
Clear User RAM: This command will clear all contents of the printer's RAM
100
including saved formats, downloadable fonts, and graphics. This command
must be issued before saving format files to an occupied memory slot. It is a
good idea that the ^D100 command is sent before saving the first file into the
printer's memory to be sure that an existing memory slot is not occupied.
There is currently no way to erase or change individual memory slots.
Before sending the first downloadable font, graphic, or format file the RAM must be initiated
by sending the ^D100 <CR> command. This command will erase all files stored in the
printer's user memory. Only use this command before sending the first file or when a total
RAM memory clear in desired.
After memory is cleared, formats may be saved into the printer's memory by using the
^Ax^D59 <CR> command sequence where, "x" is the desired memory slot to save the
format. The format file must be terminated with an ESC (HEX 1B) or "^[" (left bracket)
character. This instructs the printer that the complete file has been received. Anything
entered between the ^D59 command to the ESC character will be saved into the selected
memory slot.
The saved format may be recalled or processed by entering the ^Ax^D58 <CR> command,
where "x" is the memory slot where the format was saved. Once this command is issued,
the format will be processed as if sent to the serial port.
