RINT UALITY
This section discusses potential print quality problems, what
causes them, and how to resolve them.
Here are some suggestions for maintaining the highest print
quality from your NEC SuperScript 1450 laser printer.
• Replace the Toner Cartridge as soon as the displays that
replacement is necessary.
• Follow the cleaning procedures described in Chapter 8,
"Maintaining Your Printer."
• When the print output becomes light, redistribute the
toner. If the light printouts persist, replace the Toner
Cartridge.
• Check to make sure Toner Save is not specified in the
printer driver. It should be turned off.
• Check the printer properties to make sure that you are
using the best available print quality option. Adjust the
print resolution from the printer properties.
• Use high-quality paper or transparencies to obtain sharp,
crisp characters and maximum contrast. Refer to
Appendix XX for detailed specifications.

Solving Print Quality Problems

Problem
Solid White
If the whole page is blank, the Toner
Cartridge may either be defective or out of
toner.
• The Toner Cartridge may be out of toner.
Replace the Toner Cartridge if
necessary.
• The Toner Cartridge may be defective.
Remove the Toner Cartridge and check
for damage. Replace if necessary.
Solid Black If the whole page is black:
• The Toner Cartridge may not be installed
properly. Remove the cartridge and
reinsert it.
• The Toner Cartridge may be defective.
Remove the Toner Cartridge and check
it for damage. Replace the Toner
Cartridge if necessary.
Light Printout
If the whole page is faded or light:
• The print resolution setting is too light or
Toner Save Mode may be on. Adjust the
print resolution and Toner Save Mode
within the printer properties.
• Clean the inside of the printer (See
Chapter XX, "Maintaining Your Printer.")
• Redistribute the toner in the Toner
Cartridge.
• The Toner Cartridge may need
replacing.
