Standard and Custom Part Sizes
You can specify that custom sizes can be used for parts during layout, or you can allow only defined part
sizes in the part catalog. For example, when creating a piping layout you might need an elbow with an angle
that does not match any elbows in the part catalog. An elbow with the custom angle can be automatically
created in your layout.
If you use custom sizes, any custom parts created are available only in the current drawing and are not saved
to the part catalogs for future use. If your designs require custom sizes on a regular basis, see
Catalog-Based Content
on page 641.
Configuring Part Selection
1 Click
2 In the Options dialog, click the MEP Layout Rules tab.
3 Under Part Selection, select the sizing option you want to specify:
If you want to...
allow only standard sizes from the
part catalog
be prompted before choosing a
custom size for a part
always allow custom sizes for parts
Defining System Elevations
1 Click
2 In the Options dialog, click the MEP Elevations tab.
Then...
select Automatically match and make connection.
NOTE If you select this, when you are connecting devices with
wires, and the system of the wire does not match the system of
the electrical connector on the device, you can add the wire. The
system of the connector on the device is automatically changed.
The system of the device, which only determines how the device
is displayed, is not affected.
Options.
Then...
select Use Catalog Parts Only.
select Prompt when Non-Standard Parts are Needed. If you accept the
proposed part, the custom part is created. If you decline, the last seg-
ment drawn is removed.
select Use Non-Standard Parts.
