General tab in the Pipe Layout Preferences dialog
NOTE You cannot edit Slope format on the Properties palette. You select a format that satisfies your
piping requirements in the Pipe Layout Preferences dialog. For example, selecting Rise/Run with
Fractional Rise sets a fractional slope per foot (for example, 1/4" per foot). For more information, see
General Preferences
on page 294.
5 Under Slope, for Slope format, select the preferred format and click OK.
6 On the Properties palette, under Routing, enter a slope value based on the slope format.
TIP A negative slope value pitches the pipe downward from the main or branch (as seen in isometric
view in the drawing). For example, -1/4" reflects a downward 1/4" per foot slope.
7 Expand Advanced.
8 Under Routing Options, for Use Fitting tolerance, select Yes.
Fitting tolerance refers to the angle of deflection that is allowed on a fitting connection. Yes
(default) turns on angle of deflection for fittings that support sloped pipe runs. Selecting No
turns this option off. For more information, see
267 and
Sloped Piping
TIP If a female fitting, such as a flange, does not support angle of deflection, the software disregards
a Yes selection.
9 For Branch fitting, select the desired combination. For example, Tee then Lateral (default)
specifies that first a tee is added to the branch, followed by a lateral.
10 Under General, for Routing, select a branch angle.
The content in the routing preference includes 45 and 90 degrees. The angle you choose
determines how the branch will be drawn. You select Values from catalog selection to use all
angles in the current routing preference in the layout.
If the desired angle in the layout is outside the range of the standard angle and tolerance, the
Choose a Part dialog prompts you to make a part subsitution. For more information, see
a Part
on page 303.
11 Specify a point in the drawing, and click to draw the pipe.
