Adding a Hatching Pattern to Identify a Duct System

Use this procedure to add hatching patterns to duct systems so that you can easily identify separate systems
on complex drawings. For example, you can specify different hatch patterns for supply and return duct
systems.
1 In the drawing that contains the duct systems, click Manage tab
2 Select a duct system.
3 In the right pane, select the Display Properties tab.
4 Double-click Plan under Display Representations.
5 In the Display Properties dialog, select the Layer/Color/Linetype tab.
6 Select Hatch under Display Component, and specify it as visible.
7 Click the Hatching tab, and specify a hatch pattern.
8 Click OK 3 times.

Modifying a Duct System

The topics in this section offer specific instructions on how to modify all aspects of a duct system. You can
modify duct systems in your drawings at any point during the design process.

About Associative Movement

You can move MvParts, fittings, or duct segments without breaking the connection with the rest of the
system. This feature is called associative movement. Used in conjunction with certain grips, associative
movement enables you to move a component quickly and accurately in a duct run.
For example, you can move an MvPart to a new location. The duct segments attached to the MvPart can
move, shrink or stretch to maintain a connection with the system. You can also move a duct segment without
affecting the location of MvParts or other portions of the run.

Selecting Components

You must select a component in order to modify it. There are several ways you can select one or more
components in a drawing:
Move the cursor over an object, and click to select it.
Click outside an object or group of objects, drag a bounding box around the desired objects, and click a
second time to select all objects that are completely within the bounding box.
Use the Select Similar command to select all other objects in the drawing that have the same part subtype,
size, and system as the selected object.
By default, the label is placed along the duct segment. Press Ctrl before specifying the label
location to move the label off the duct.
