With the initial settings, tracks 1–16 correspond to
MIDI channels 1–16; i.e., track 1 receives MIDI chan-
nel 1, and track 2 receives MIDI channel 2, etc.
2. Controlling tracks from your com-
puter/sequencer
MIDI transmit/receive channel
Set the MIDI transmit channel of your computer/
sequencer to match the "MIDI Channel" of the TRI-
TON-Rack track that you wish to play.
When a track receives note data on a MIDI channel that
matches its own channel, the program of that track will
sound. MIDI messages such as control changes will
affect only the track that is receiving the corresponding
MIDI channel. The arpeggiator will operate when it
receives note data within the range of the Scan Zone
setting ( PG p.68) on the MIDI channel of the track.
Operating the controllers of the TRITON-Rack will
control the sound etc. of the track that is selected for
"Control Track."
Control of insert/master effect dynamic modulation or
the pan and send 1 and 2 that follow the insert effects is
performed on the MIDI channel specified for "Control
Channel" (7.2: Insert FX, Setup page). However, effect
on/off and exclusive data is received on the global
MIDI channel "MIDI Channel" (GLOBAL 2.1: MIDI).
( PG p.221)
Selecting the sound number of a part
To select the sound number of a track from your com-
puter/sequencer, transmit a program change message
on the MIDI channel for the corresponding track.
To change the bank, you will have to transmit control
change #0 and 32 bank select messages. The TRITON-
Rack will not change the program sound immediately
when a bank select message is received. The program
sound of the specified bank will be selected when the
program change message is received following the
bank select message.
Transmit bank select [Bn, 00, mm] (control change #00)
and [Bn, 20, bb] (control change #32) (mm: upper byte
of the bank number, bb: lower byte of the bank num-
ber, n: channel) and program change [Cn, pp] (pp: pro-
gram/combination number). Transmission and
reception of bank select messages will vary, depending
on the "Bank Map" (GLOBAL 1.1: System, Pref) set-
ting. ( PG p.109)
The functionality for transmitting and specifying
bank select and program numbers will differ
depending on your sequencer or sequencer soft-
ware. Refer to the owner's manual for your
sequencer or sequencer software for details on
operation.
Using the RPPR (Realtime Pattern
Play/Recording) function
The Multi mode of the TRITON-Rack provides an
RPPR (Realtime Pattern Play/Recording) function.
RPPR is a function in which pattern data and a track
that will play it can be assigned to each note of the key-
board, allowing you to play patterns in realtime simply
by pressing a note on a connected MIDI keyboard.
(Internal memory contains preset patterns that are
appropriate for use with drum tracks.)
Here's how to load and play the RPPR demo .SNG
data.
1 Load "RPPRDEMO.SNG" from the included
"TNRFD-00P" floppy disk.
1) Insert the included "TNRFD-00P" floppy disk
into the floppy disk drive.
2) Press the [DISK] key (LED lit) to enter Disk
mode.
3) Press the [F1] ("Load") key to select the Load
page.
4) Use the [

memory will be erased. ( PG p.126)
8) Press the [F8] ("OK") key to load the data.
Never remove the media while data is being
loaded.
If the "Memory Protected" dialog box appears,
