Planning and Arranging the Control Unit and Jacks

Plan the arrangement of the jacks near the control unit. Figure 11 shows possible
arrangements of jacks at the control unit location.

PLACE THE JACKS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO EACH OTHER; LEAVE SPACE
NOTE 1:
BETWEEN THEM FOR THE CABLES THAT WILL BE ATTACHED AND FOR
THE D8W MODULAR TERMINAL CORDS THAT WILL BE PLUGGED IN.
THE JACKS SHOULD BE MOUNTED CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE
NOTE 2:
CONTROL UNIT SO THAT THE 14–FOOT D8W MODULAR TERMINAL CORD WILL
REACH FROM THE JACK TO THE CONTROL UNIT (NO MORE THAN
4 OR 5 FEET AWAY).
NOTE 3:
LABEL THE JACKS WITH APPROPRIATE DESIGNATIONS, SUCH AS THE
LOCATION OF THE CORRESPONDING VOICE TERMINAL JACK.

Installing the Cable

1.
Locate the voice terminal cable in your shipment.
Pull the end of the voice terminal cable from its dispenser and lay it along the route

from the control unit location to each voice terminal location.
