Installing the printer driver for Windows
Reminder
In Windows 7/Server 2008 R2, the installation disk cannot be specified after the connection has been
established. Install the printer driver in advance according to the procedure for making the printer driver
known from the Network window. For details, refer to "Making the printer driver known from the
Network window" on page 3-26.
In Windows Vista/Server 2008, although the printer driver is not installed in advance, the printer driver
installation disk can be specified and the printer driver can be installed. For details, refer to "Printer
driver installation by specifying the IP address using the Add Printer Wizard" on page 3-27.

TCP/IP setting for this machine

Specify the IP address in the TCP/IP Setting screen of this machine.

To use the Web Service print, enable the print function in the Web Service Settings screen of this machine.

Making the printer driver known from the Network window

Reminder
When installing on Windows Vista/7/Server 2008/Server 2008 R2, administrator permissions are
required.
Printers will be found during installation. Connect this machine to the network, and then turn on the
power.

Turn on the power of the machine while it is connected to the network.
To allow printers to be detected during installation, the machine must be connected to the network.

To use the Web Service print, check that "Network discovery" is enabled in "Network and Sharing
Center" on the computer.

Insert the printer driver CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of the computer.

Open the [Network] window.
In Windows Vista/Server 2008, click [Start], and [Network].
In Windows 7/Server 2008 R2, open "Computer" and click [Network].
If [Network] is not displayed in "Computer", click the [Network and Internet] category on the [Control
Panel], and also click [View network computers and devices].
Connected computers and devices are detected.

Select the device name of this machine, and then click "Install" from the toolbar.
The printer driver for this machine is detected and the machine is ready to print.
If the User Account Control window appears, click the [Continue] or [Yes] button.

After finishing the installation, make sure that the icon for the installed printer is displayed in the
"Printers" or "Devices and Printers" window.
If the printer driver is not correctly installed, the driver must be updated using [Update Driver ...]. For
details, refer to "Updating the driver after connecting this machine" on page 3-31.
