When placing processors on the clean ESD-protected work surface, place them with
their pins facing down. Do not stack processors on top of each other.

Removing a Processor Thermal Blank
Caution: Make sure to install a processor and a heat sink to replace the thermal blank. Only power
on a system that has all four processor sockets populated with processor heat sinks and /
or processor thermal blanks.
Caution: Using a processor thermal blank that is not expressly designed for the Intel
System S7000FC4UR is not supported and may result in processor thermal issues.
The server may have from one to four processors installed on the main board. If you are
adding a processor to the system, the thermal blank must be removed.
1. Remove the top cover. For instructions, see
2. Remove the processor air baffle. For instructions, see
Baffle" on page
3. Use a long Phillips* head screwdriver to loosen the four screws on the thermal
blank.
4. Lift the thermal blank to remove it.
