Installation
NOTE: If several peripherals are to be used, a switched, multiple outlet
box or power strip may be convenient to control the power to all system
components at the same time. If a switched outlet box or power strip
is used, make sure that it is properly rated for the system's power require-
ments.
Turn all power switches OFF before connecting the computer or
any peripherals to an AC power source.
Place peripherals in their operating positions and plug their respec-
tive power cords into an AC power source.
The computer is powered by an external AC adapter or an optional
battery pack. Plug the appropriate end of the AC adapter into the
computer's power socket and plug the other end into the AC power
source or install the optional battery pack (see "Disassembly/Reas-
sembly," Chapter 4).
Before Powering Up the System

Remove the cardboard shipping insert from the disk drive(s). Keep
the shipping inserts. They should be re-inserted whenever the corn-
puter is moved.
Verify that the AC adapter is plugged into both the computer and
the AC power source or the battery is fully charged.
