7. Troubleshooting and Technical Support

This section contains troubleshooting information for the DeviceMaster and the RocketPort device driver for
Windows. Review the following subsections before calling Technical Support because they will request that
you perform many of the procedures or verifications before they will be able to help you diagnose a problem.

7.1. Download Diagnostic Applications

There are several tools and utilities that Pepperl+Fuchs provides to diagnose serial port problems or to monitor
data.
Go to https://www.pepperl-fuchs.com and locate the product and download the applications or utilities.

7.1.1. RocketPort

The RocketPort provides a utility package that includes two diagnostic tools. See RocketPort Installing Test
Terminal and PortMon on Page 79.
Test Terminal use to troubleshoot communications on a port-by-port basis. See Using Test Terminal on
Page 81
Port Monitor check for errors, modem control, and status signals. In addition, it provides you with raw byte
input and output counts. See Using Port Monitor to Test Ports on Page 92

7.1.2. DeviceMaster

The DeviceMaster provides the following diagnostic tools and utilities.
The Advanced tab in the Windows Driver Management Console (Using the Advanced Tab on Page 73),
which may provide valuable information about the DeviceMaster and your network, in the event that you are
having problems.
PortVision DX that provides the following features:
