5. Using Driver Configuration Files

5.1. Overview

The Windows Driver Management Console supports saving device driver configuration files, which provides:
Back-up for existing driver configuration settings
Ability to configure multiple of the same devices with the same configuration parameters
Save the driver configuration settings because you need to remove a driver version to install a new driver
version and you want to reload the driver configuration settings into the new driver
Configuration files are saved with a .DCF extension.

5.1.1. DeviceMaster

Configuration files must be for the same DeviceMaster model with the same port density. For example, you
cannot load a a configuration file for a 32-port DeviceMaster onto a 4-port DeviceMaster.

5.1.2. RocketPort

Configuration files must be for the same model with the same port density. For example, you cannot load a
RocketPort EXPRESS configuration file onto a RocketPort INFINITY.
