Sensor mounting

During operation, ambient temperature cannot exceed the values stated in the technical
specifications (Page 52). If the unit is exposed to direct solar radiation, ensure the total
temperature will not exceed the maximum permitted temperature. If these conditiions
cannot be fulfilled, a heat protection must be installed. Depending on local conditions,
solutions may range from installation of a sun shield to operating SITRANS TDL in a cabinet
with controlled environment.
Avoid condensation
As condensation is normally a problem when moving the device from outdoor to the inside
of a building, the device should be adapted to the new ambient conditions for a couple of
hours before starting it.
5.3.1

Optical path length determination

The optical path length is the distance the distance the laser beam passes through the
process gas. Correct optical path length is necessary for proper device performance. User
must enter the actual value of the measuring path length in meters via SITRANS TDL HMI or
via the web server. See parameter AUTOHOTSPOT. The measuring path length is defined as
the distance between the ends of purging tubes. In case no purging tubes are installed, the
optical path length is defined by the distance between surfaces of the process flanges.
