FREEING A JAMMED DRUM

1. Stop the engine.
2. Remove the spark plug cable and keep it away from the spark plug.
3. Remove any material remaining in the chipper's hopper.
4. Use a wrench to turn the drum shaft, first clockwise, then anti-clockwise, until the blockage is
removed.
5. Remove the deflector.
6. Check if the deflector is clogged. Remove any blockage with a branch.
7. Use a wooden stick to loosen and remove any material remaining in the blade housing.
8. Reinstall the deflector.
9. Reconnect the spark plug cable and battery (if so equipped).
10. Start the machine and let the material in the blade housing run out through the deflector.
11. If the chamber does not clear and the drum is still jammed, repeat the above procedure.
12. Make sure the blade housing is free before attempting to get more material into the chipper.
