TOWING

DO NOT TOW THE MACHINE ON PUBLIC ROADS.
Before towing, ensure that the chipper is correctly and securely attached to the towing vehicle and
that the safety chains are in place. Leave slack in the chains to allow for turning.
Do not allow anyone to sit or ride on the chipper. This can cause serious injury.
Stay alert for hidden hazards or traffic. Do not carry passengers.
Never carry any cargo or wood on the chipper. It may fall off and endanger following vehicles.
Allow for added length when turning, parking, crossing intersections and in all driving situations.
Be careful when backing up. You can easily jackknife your chipper.
Adjust your towing speed for terrain and conditions. Do not exceed 5 km/h when towing.
As there is no suspension on the chipper, it will tend to bounce more on uneven roads. Be extra
cautious when towing over bumpy or rough terrain including railroad crossings.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

Keep machine, attachments, and accessories in safe working condition.
Check engine mounting bolts and other hardware before each use for proper tightness.
Never operate your chipper in poor mechanical condition or when in need of repair. Be sure, all
safety guards and shields are in proper position. These safety devices are for your protection.
Never store the machine with fuel in the fuel tank in a building where ignition sources such as hot
water and space heaters, tumble dryers and the like are present. Allow the engine to cool down
before storing it in an enclosure.
Always refer to the user manual for important details if the machine is to be stored for an extended
period.
If you need to empty the fuel tank, do it outdoors.
If it becomes necessary to clear blockages in the feed- or discharge funnel or to inspect or repair the
machine where moving parts may come into contact with the user's body or clothing, switch off the
machine and wait for the moving parts to come to a complete stop, disconnect the spark plug wires
and allow the engine to cool down before attempting to clear blockages, inspection or repair.
Check the blade's mounting screws before each use to ensure they are securely fastened. Also
visually inspect the blade for wear or damage. Replace the blade with parts that meet original
equipment specifications.
Check the blades for sharpness and the bolts that secure them to the drum for the drum before
each operation.
Replace the nylock nuts that secure the blade each time you replace the blade.
Check the gap between the blade and the counter blade every time the blade is sharpened or
replaced.
Never make changes to safety devices. Regularly check that they are working properly.
Inspect the belts every time the machine is used. Look for damage, worn areas or tears. Do not use
the machine if any faults or defects are found.
