Measurement Category Definitions

IEC61010-2-030 defines the measurement category to rate the ability of measuring
instruments to withstand short-term transient overvoltage outside of the working voltage.
This product and its accessories can only be used in the environment of the nominal
measurement category.
Measurement Category III (CAT III) applies to test and measuring circuits connected to
the distribution part of the building's low-voltage mains installation.
Measurement Category II (CAT II) applies to test and measuring circuits connected
directly to utilization points (socket outlets and similar points) of the low-voltage mains
installation.
'O' - No Rated Measurement Category applies to other circuits that are not directly
connected to the mains supply.
