6.1.

SETTING UP THE MEASURING STATION

6.1.1.

Mobile measuring station

 The roughness measuring device ST2 can be placed on flat or cylindrical surfaces as a complete unit. The measuring

device can be positioned horizontally by adjusting the height settings. The appropriate height for the calibration stand-
ard is marked by a grey triangle.
 Remove the drive unit from the roughness measuring device ST2. Place the vee block holder on a flat or cylindrical sur-

face.
 The drive unit can be mounted in the height-adjustable hand-held support, separately from the evaluation instrument.
The height-adjustable hand-held support can be set to different heights.

6.1.2.

Stationary measuring station

 The roughness measuring device ST2 can be attached to measuring stands as a complete unit. Use the optional holder

(article no. 499013) for this.
 The drive unit can be attached to measuring stands in the hand-held support. Use the optional holder (article no.
499035) for this.

 The cylindrical drive unit can be attached to measuring stands or an existing holding device (clamping shaft dia. 8 mm).
Use the optional holder (article no. 499014 RD18C) for this.
6.1.3.

Removing the drive unit from the roughness measuring device ST2

1. Turn the roughness measuring device ST2 upside down.
2. Press against the front face of the drive unit.
» The latch pin unlatches.

» The side stop pin is at the back.
3. Hold the drive unit by the probe guard of the vee block holder.
4. Pry out of roughness measuring device ST2.

5. Disconnect the plug from the drive unit.
6. Connect the extension cable to the drive unit.
» Connect with plug.

7. The plug of the extension cable clicks into place in the drive unit.
» The drive unit can be used outside of the roughness measuring device ST2. If required, use together with the enclosed

positioner or hand-held support.
6.1.4.

Removing the vee block holder from the drive unit

Remove the vee block holder from the drive unit when changing the probe or fitting the drive unit to the hand-held sup-

port or a holding device.
ü Drive unit removed from the roughness measuring device.
1. Remove the screws on the front face of the vee block holder.

2. Use a hex screwdriver.
3. Slide the vee block holder forwards.
» Contact is made with the probe.

4. Pry the drive unit out of the vee block holder.
» Vee block holder removed.

Fitting the drive unit to the hand-held support

ü Vee block holder removed from the drive unit.
1. Align the drive unit with the screw at the guide of the hand-held support.

2. Guide the drive unit into the hand-held support.
3. Attach the probe guard using a hex screwdriver.
sl 4. When storing the drive unit in the hand-held support, attach the transport lock.
» Drive unit fitted to hand-held support.

Removing the drive unit from the hand-held support

1. Release the probe guard using a hex screwdriver.
2. Pull the drive unit out of the hand-held support.

6.1.7.

Fitting the vee block holder to the drive unit

1. Insert the drive unit into the vee block holder.

2. Slide the drive unit forwards so that the probe is in the centre of the groove.
