4. Connect the Gateway to the Internet by one of the following means:
Ethernet (preferred if the Internet router is accessible)
In the Commissioning Wizard, click the arrow for Ethernet
Choose DHCP (most common) or Static (only if necessary and you know the Network
settings)
Click Connect
Wi-Fi
In the Commissioning Wizard, click the arrow for Wi-Fi
Enter the home Wi-Fi network name (SSID)
Choose the security type (most likely WPA/WPA2)
Enter the network password
Click the blue arrow
Cellular (best if Internet router is hard to access, and cellular signal is strong)
In the Commissioning Wizard, click Cellular
5. Click Check Connection to verify that the Internet connection is working. Click Continue.
NOTE: If the Commissioning Wizard stalls or fails, refresh the browser/app to ensure that the
Wizard page shows the current state of the system, and try connecting again by repeating
steps in procedure #4 above. If refreshing the browser doesn't work, check the connection to
the Gateway network. (You may need to repeat procedure #1 above to reconnect to the
Gateway network.)
6. Apply any firmware updates to the Gateway and Powerwall by clicking Check for Update.
When the update is staged, click Update. After the update is complete, reestablish connection
to the Gateway and the Internet, starting with procedure #1 above.
7. Establish a connection to each Energy Meter in the system by doing the following:
Choose the applicable connection type (Wi-Fi or RS485)
Enter the Meter short ID
Enter the Meter Serial Number
Click Add Meter to enter information for additional meters
Click Continue
After each meter is added, reconnect to the network with your mobile device.
8. Confirm that each meter shows a green check mark next to its serial number. If it does not,
refresh the browser/app, verify that the ID and serial number were entered correctly, and click
Verify.
9. On the Powerwall screen, click Scan for More, and ensure that the correct number of
Powerwalls appears. Click Continue.
