Firmware Download Method
Web Page (Ethernet only). User needs the network
option installed, a browser, and know the IP address.
Windows Driver (any host IO). When the Windows Driver
is installed, downloading firmware can be done easily
through the About/Help tab.
Automatic download (any host IO). Using the
FILENAME.exe, firmware can be downloaded from a
Windows Command Prompt without having to manually
put the printer into download mode.
Manual two-key download (any host IO). This two-key
(ADVANCE+CANCEL) power-up sequence puts the
printer into download mode. Firmware can be loaded
through any host IO port.
Manual three-key download (USB or Parallel). This
three-key power-up sequence should be used in situations
in which a new controller is installed, the program in
FLASH is corrupt, or a different firmware type will be
installed.
Firmware must be loaded via USB or parallel (if installed).
PrintNet Enterprise (Ethernet only). User must install the
PrintNet Enterprise application from the PrintNet CD or
download the installer from the Printronix website. This is
the most versatile and powerful method to upgrade
printers but requires your computer can run Java™
programs.
SD Card. (supported only for existing firmware dated 30
March, 2018 or later).
1. Obtain the firmware (xxxxxx.prg) from the executable,
and copy it on an SD card (SDHC 4-32 Gbytes only).
2. Rename the firmware to "UPGRADE" on the SD card.
3. Insert the SD card into the printer and power
printer with the two-key download sequence (holding
down the Advance and Cancel Buttons)
4. The printer will then read the firmware from the SD
card and re-flash the printer with the program file.
