Operation

Malfunctions can cause personal injuries or motor damage
In the event of changes during operation, the drive unit must be switched off immediately.
Determine the cause of the fault using the fault table (Page 89). Remedy faults or have faults
remedied.
Check the motor during operation for:
• Excessive operating temperature
• Smooth and vibration-free operation
• Unusual noises
Maximum speeds for converter operation
The maximum permissible speed for the converter world motor is stamped on the rating
plate. Do not exceed the maximum speed. In continuous operation, the speed must be less
than the maximum permissible speed, as the shaft sealing rings are subject to higher stress
levels and therefore the service life is reduced. Shaft sealing rings are parts that are subject
to wear and must be checked and maintained.
The maximum speed stamped on the rating plate is obtained from the following properties:
• Maximum permissible mechanical speed of the gearbox
• Maximum permissible speed of the motor
• Maximum permissible speed of the encoder (if an encoder is being used)
• Maximum permissible speed of the motor brake (if a motor brake is being used)
Contact Technical Support when the motor is frequently operated close to its maximum
speed.
Maximum torques
Do not exceed the maximum gearbox output torque. For special applications, for example:
• Tandem gearbox
• Gearboxes with high transmission ratios
• For service factors less than 1
• For unfavorable operating situations (high surge loads/shock, frequency of operation or
when operated on a daily basis)
