A
WARNING:
• Gas
given off by battery electrolyte
is
explosive.
Keep
all smoking materials, sparks and
flames
away
from
batteries.
•
Follow
proper
charging
and
boosting
proced-
ures given
in
this
section.
• Ventlate
when
charging
in
enclosed
space.
•
Nways
wear protective eye-wear when
working
near
batteries.
•
Do
not tip
batteries more than
45·
to avoid
electrolyte loss.
•
Battery electrolyte causes severe bums. Avoid
contact
with
skin, eyes or clothing.
•
Keep
batteries
out
of
reach
of
children.
•
If
electrolyte
is
spilled or sp,ashed
on
clothing
or the
body,
neutralize
it
immediately with
a
solution of
baking soda and
water,
then
rinse
with clean water.
•
Electrolyte splashed
into
the eyes
is
extremely
dangerous.
Should
this
occur,
force
the eye
open and
flood
with
cool,
clean water for five
minutes. Call
a
doctor immediately.
•
To avoid shocks, bums or damage to electrical
system,
disconnect
battery ground cable
before
working in an area where
you
might acciden-
tally
contact
electrical
components.
