A
WARNING:
• Gas
given off by battery electrolyte
is
explosive.
Keep
all smoking materials, sparks and
flames
away
from
batteries.
Follow
proper
charging
and
boosting
proced-
ures given
in
this
section.
• Ventlate
when
charging
in
enclosed
space.
Nways
wear protective eye-wear when
working
near
batteries.
Do
not tip
batteries more than
45·
to avoid
electrolyte loss.
Battery electrolyte causes severe bums. Avoid
contact
with
skin, eyes or clothing.
Keep
batteries
out
of
reach
of
children.
If
electrolyte
is
spilled or sp,ashed
on
clothing
or the
body,
neutralize
it
immediately with
a
solution of
baking soda and
water,
then
rinse
with clean water.
Electrolyte splashed
into
the eyes
is
extremely
dangerous.
Should
this
occur,
force
the eye
open and
flood
with
cool,
clean water for five
minutes. Call
a
doctor immediately.
To avoid shocks, bums or damage to electrical
system,
disconnect
battery ground cable
before
working in an area where
you
might acciden-
tally
contact
electrical
components.
