Fault 27: Engine Run Output Circuit Fault
to Fuel Actuator
InfoCenter Display:
Fault Description
The "engine run" output circuit from the TEC-5002 is supplying too much current to the fuel actuator. The
TEC-5002 is sensing that the output signal to the fuel actuator is above the maximum.
Note:
The fuel actuator is also referred to as the eGov.
Circuit Description
The fuel actuator and the TEC-5002 controller work together to maintain engine speed by adjusting the fuel
delivery to the engine. A sensor in the motor/generator provides a signal for generator/engine speed to the
TEC-5002 through the CAN bus. If the engine speed changes because of changes to the load on the engine or
because the operator of the machine changes engine speed, the TEC-5002 modifies the electrical output to
the fuel actuator, then the actuator adjusts fuel as signaled by the TEC-5002 to maintain engine speed. The
TEC-5002 monitors the operation of the fuel actuator.
Note:
If a problem occurs with the fuel actuator or circuit wiring, the extension spring between the actuator
bracket and engine speed control lever moves the control lever to high idle (3,150 rpm) with the engine
mechanical governor controlling engine speed above high idle.
Conditions for Setting the Fault
The TEC-5002 reports fault 27 if any of the following conditions are met:
the output signal from the TEC-5002 to the fuel actuator is above the maximum.
the signal cannot reach the fuel actuator (due to damaged wiring).
the fuel actuator is worn or damaged.
Recommended Service Actions
Step 1: Verify that the fault repeats.
1.
Clear the system faults from the InfoCenter. Refer to
2.
Operate the machine.
Pass
The fault did not repeat. Go to
Note:
If the fault does not repeat, an isolated event has occurred.
Fail
The fault repeated. Go to Step 2.
Step 2: Test the fuel actuator.
1.
Open the hood and locate the fuel actuator. See
