Troubleshooting > General Troubles
Symptom
There are black dots
in the white parts of
the image.
Printouts are fuzzy.
The image is
misaligned.
Printouts have
vertical lines.
Dirt on the top edge
or back of the paper.
There is a regular
repeating pattern of
faintness, blurring, or
whiteness in the
image.
Checkpoints
Is the original holder or the glass
platen dirty?
Is the device used in an environment
with high humidity or where the
temperature or humidity changes
suddenly?
Are the originals placed correctly?
Is the paper loaded correctly?
Is the slit glass dirty?
Is the interior of the machine dirty?
Are the developing unit and drum unit
installed correctly?

Corrective Actions
Clean the original holder or the glass
platen.
Use in an environment that has
suitable humidity.
If the problem occurs frequently, turn
on the Cassette Heater switch.
Run [Drum Refresh].
When placing originals on the platen,
align them with the original size
indicator plates.
When placing originals in the
document processor, align the
original width guides securely before
placing the originals.
Check the position of the paper width
guides.
Perform centerline adjustment. For
information about this adjustment,
contact your Service Representative.
Clean the slit glass.
Open the right cover. If the machine
interior is dirty with toner, clean it
using soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
Remove and correctly re-install the
developing unit and drum unit.
Open right cover and then close it
again.
Run [Drum Refresh].
If the problem occurs frequently, turn
on the Cassette Heater switch.
