Clean the ruler
Introduction
The printer uses a ruler to control the printhead carriage. A polluted ruler interferes with control
of the printhead carriage. In case of pollution, you can clean the ruler.

NOTE
You can clean a ruler marked with a green dot. Do not clean a ruler that is not marked with a
green dot.
When to do
If the operator panel shows error 5709, clean the ruler.
Before you begin
Use Colorado M-series prescribed:
• Microflex gloves for handling ink
• Lint free cloths
• Cleaning liquid IPA
NOTE
For information on the prescribed maintenance materials, see
maintenance materials on page
CAUTION
Wear the prescribed gloves when contact with ink or maintenance materials is possible. Gloves
should always overlap sleeves. Follow the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines carefully in
order to ensure maximum safety.
IMPORTANT
Use the prescribed cleaning liquid. Do not use any other cleaners.
