Changing Names and Comments

You can change printer names and attach comments to help identify printers listed on SmartNetMonitor
for Admin.
SmartNetMonitor for Admin allows you to change names and comments when TCP/IP or IPX/SPX is
available. You can install SmartNetMonitor for Admin from the CD-ROM provided. For more infor-
mation about installing SmartNetMonitor for Admin, see

The following utilities are used to change printer names and comments:

Each of the names, in TCP/IP form (printer name) and NetBEUI form, is changed individually. Com-
ments are, however, common to both protocols.
The factory default name consists of "RNP" and the last 3 bytes of the MAC address on the network
interface board. For example, if the MAC address is 00:00:74:62:7D:D5, the factory default name is
"RNP627DD5". Comments are not configured.

Run SmartNetMonitor for Admin.

Click the [Group] menu, point to [Search Device], and click [TCP/IP] or [IPX/SPX]. A list of print-
ers appears.
Note
Select the protocol of the printer for which you want to change configuration.

In the list, select the printer for the network interface board you want to change configuration.

On the [Tools] menu, click [NIB Setup Tool].
NIB Setup Tool starts.
