6-10. Updating Software

Preparing For Software Update
Step 1. Verify the current software version installed. Press and hold the Adjust Control/Select button for 5 seconds, then release to access
the Service Menu.
Step 2. Rotate the Adjust Control/Select button to scroll through the menu items until the display reads SOFT WARE.
Step 3. Press the Adjust Control/Select button. The current software revision is displayed.
Step 4. Verify that the USB thumb drive is good. Turn the Engine Control switch to Run, then insert the USB thumb drive. If the display reads
USB ACC, the USB thumb drive is good. If the display does not read USB ACC, obtain a different USB thumb drive.
Downloading Software
Use a PC to download software. Do not use a Mac.
Step 5. Locate the latest firmware to be loaded from
Step 6. Click to download the file. When the download is complete, run it.
Step 7. Accept the software licensing agreement.
Step 8. Copy the desired firmware to an empty USB thumb drive.
Files must be at the top level of the USB and not zipped or inside a folder.
Installing Software
Step 9. Turn Off the welder/generator.
Step 10. Insert the thumb drive into the USB receptacle on the front of the machine.
Step 11. Turn the Engine Control switch to the Run or Run/Idle position.
Do not start the engine.
Step 12. When the machine has powered up, if valid files exist on the thumb drive, the user is prompted to confirm the start of the download.
The Voltmeter/Ammeter display reads: AL? NO.
Step 13. Confirm by rotating the Adjust Control/Select button clockwise to select YES. Then press the Select button.
After the update has started, do not power down the unit or remove the thumb drive until the update is complete.
During the download, the left meter display indicates the active download with ALLC, ALLW, AL C, or AL W. The right meter display indicates
the percentage of the download completed with a number from 0 to 100.
Failures are indicated on the meter display. Correction of failed updates depends on what type of failure occurred.
Step 14. When the update has completed, the control board will reset and all LEDs will turn on for two seconds.
Step 15. Turn Off the welder/generator, then start the engine.
Step 16. Verify the new software revision has installed. Press and hold the Adjust Control/Select button for 5 seconds, then release to access
the Service Menu.
Step 17. Rotate the Adjust Control/Select button to scroll through the menu items until the display reads SOFT WARE..
Step 18. Press the Adjust Control/Select button. The current software revision is displayed.
