Troubleshooting
Problem
A warning sounds when the selector lever is
moved to position R and none of the seg-
ments in the ultrasound reversing aid* light
up.
A deep warning tone sounds when the vehi-
cle is reversing.
A deep warning tone sounds when the vehi-
cle is reversing, or no warning sounds and
none of the segments lights up.

Possible cause
You have attached a trailer.
You have inserted an adapter plug in the trail-
er socket.
The ultrasound reversing aid* sensors are
dirty or are malfunctioning.
This may be caused by an external radio or
ultrasound source. The ultrasound reversing
aid* switches itself off.
The ultrasound reversing aid* is malfunction-
ing and has switched itself off.

Suggested solutions
Remove the adapter plug.
The ultrasound reversing aid* func-
tions again as normal.
Clean the ultrasound reversing aid*
sensors ( page 289).
Switch on the ignition again.
Check the ultrasound reversing aid*
at another location.
Have the ultrasound reversing aid*
checked as soon as possible at a
qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
