Automatic transmission

Problem
Problems with gearshifts.
The acceleration capability is deteriorating.
The transmission will not shift.

Possible cause
The transmission is losing oil.
The transmission is operating in emergency
mode. You can only shift to 2nd and reverse
gear.

Suggested solutions
Have the transmission checked im-
mediately at a qualified specialist
workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.
Stop the vehicle.
Move the selector lever to P.
Switch off the engine.
Wait at least ten seconds before re-
starting the engine.
Shift the selector lever to D (2nd gear)
or R.
Have the transmission checked im-
mediately at a qualified specialist
workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.
