Reviewing safety and compliance information

Review the Safety and Compliance Information for Server, Storage, Power, Networking, and Rack Products guide
before you begin unpacking and installing the storage system.

ESD-sensitive device warning

The power module, I/O module, and drive enclosure are ESD-sensitive devices.
WARNING: ESD-SENSITIVE DEVICE. To avoid damage to the components, install the device on a properly
grounded electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection surface. Always use a properly grounded ESD wriststrap or mat
during operation or installation of the device, or when connecting the cables.

Power module safety considerations

There is no power switch on this unit. After the first power cord is connected to an active power distribution unit
(PDU), the system starts. To properly shut down the chassis, you must unplug both power cords from the power
distribution unit.
The maximum current draw is listed on each power supply unit (PSU) label. For example, the maximum input for one
1600 W PSU is 200 V to 240 V ~15 A maximum. This rating is for one power module—there are two power modules
for each J2000 sharing the load.
The J2000 produces ~78 dB levels of sound power at 60% of power during normal operation. The acoustic sound
power increases to ~86 dB at 100% power under fault conditions. Prolonged periods of high sound levels can be
potentially harmful. Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends use of hearing protection.

Drive enclosure safety considerations

CAUTION:
Make sure that the SSDs have a minimum of 2 hours to acclimate to room temperature before installing them in
the J2000.
All 24 drive bays must be populated with either a drive in a drive carrier or an air management sled (AMS) due
to thermal considerations.

System weight safety considerations

WARNING: HEAVY OBJECT. This system weighs approximately 25.4 kg (56 lb) when all 24 drives, two power
modules, and two I/O modules are installed. Prevent personal injury and equipment damage by obtaining assistance
during rack installation and when sliding the system into or out of the rack. A minimum of two people are required
to install or remove a J2000 from the rack. You can also use a lift table or forklift for installation and removal.
