16. Repeat STEPS 3-14 to remove the locking cylinder on opposite side of the wheelchair
base frame.
Installing the New Locking Cylinder
1. Push front head tube down to rotate the walking beam down.
2. Apply Super Lube
grease to the pivot ball of the new locking gas cylinder where it engages the guide
block and guide block clamp.
3. Position the pivot ball into the base frame guide block.
4. Using the two new 1/4-20 X .63 socket head screws secure block guide clamp to the
base frame. Torque to 75 in-lbs ± 20%.
5. Extend the locking cylinder and rotate the walking beam assembly to align the 5/16 X
2.50 socket head shoulder screw mounting hole in the walking beam with the
mounting hole in the locking cylinder.
6. Push the 5/16 X 2.50 socket head shoulder screw through the walking beam, nylon
washer and the locking cylinder.
7. Using the new 1/4-20 locknut, secure the 5/16 X 2.50 socket head shoulder screw and
the locking cylinder to the walking beam. Torque to 75 in-lbs ± 20%.
8. Position the lower front bumper onto the wheelchair frame.
9. Using the 5/16-18 keps nut and .328 X .75 X .060 washer secure the lower front bumper
to the wheelchair frame.
10. Using the two hex head screws, secure the fender to the walking beam.
NOTE: Ensure keystock is in the cutout on the drive shaft. The keystock MUST line up with the
wheel hub cutout.
DO NOT apply more than a one-inch (in length) thin film of silicon based grease to
the drive shaft. Applying more than one-inch (in length) can cause the silicon based
grease to leak resulting in damage to flooring (carpet, tile, etc.).
11. Apply Super Lube Multi Purpose Grease w/PTFE (Teflon) or other silicon based
grease to the drive shaft and keystock.
12. Align the keystock in the drive shaft with the cutout in the wheel hub and position the
wheel on to the drive shaft.
13. Wipe off any excess silicon based grease.
Failure to properly install locking tab washer can result in wheel separation and
potential user injury or property damage. When replacing wheels ALWAYS use a
new locking tab washer. DO NOT reuse locking tab washers.
NOTE: The locking tab of the locking tab washer MUST be inserted into the cutout in the rim and
hub.
