Installing the Locking Cylinder Kit
NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 1 on page 7.
NOTE: This procedure applies to both sides of the wheelchair.
Removing the Existing Locking Cylinder
1. Remove the top and perimeter shrouds. Refer to Removing/Installing the Shrouds on
page 7.
2. Place two 5-inch blocks under the base frame so that all six wheels are suspended
above work surface.
3. Unfold the existing locking tab washer tab securing the mounting bolt (Detail "A").
4. Remove mounting bolt and locking tab washer. Discard existing locking tab washer.
5. Remove the wheel from the drive shaft. If necessary, use wheel puller to remove the
drive wheel from the drive shaft.
6. Remove the two hex head screws securing the fender to the walking beam assembly.
7. Remove the fender from the walking beam assembly.
8. Remove the 5/16-18 keps nut and .328 X .75 X .060 washer securing the lower front
bumper to the wheelchair base frame.
9. Remove the lower front bumper from wheelchair frame.
10. Lift the front head tube to rotate the walking beam and allow access to the 1/4-20
locknut.
11. Remove the existing 1/4-20 locknut securing the 5/16 X 2.50 socket head shoulder
screw and the locking cylinder to the walking beam. Discard the existing 1/4-20
locknut.
NOTE: It is not necessary to fully remove the 5/16 X 2.50 socket head shoulder screw from the
walking beam.
12. Pull the 5/16 X 2.50 socket head shoulder screw away from walking beam assembly
until the locking cylinder is free from the walking beam.
NOTE: To improve access to the 1/4-20 X .63 socket head screws, use a long, ball head allen
wrench.
13. Remove the two existing 1/4-20 X .63 socket head screws securing block guide clamp
to the base frame. Discard the two existing 1/4-20 X .63 socket head screws.
14. Pull the locking cylinder away from the front of the wheelchair base frame.
15. Remove the locking cylinder from the wheelchair base frame guide block.
