4.1.1 REMstar and Series II Troubleshooting Guide

Problem
ON/OFF Switch lights but there is
no air flow.
Unit does not turn on and ON/
OFF switch does not light.
REMstar Service Manual
Possible Causes
Voltage selector switch is set to
the wrong voltage.
Motor wire is not securely con-
nected to J1 on the circuit board.
Transformer is faulty or wiring
connections are not complete.
Blower assembly is faulty.
Circuit board is faulty.
Power cord is not firmly con-
nected to the unit or it is not
plugged into a working electrical
socket.
The ON/OFF switch may be
dimly lit.
Voltage selector switch is set to
wrong voltage.
Troubleshooting
Corrective Action
Verify proper voltage setting. If
the unit is set to 230 V, but
plugged into a 115 V line, the unit
will not operate. If the unit is set
to 115 V, but is plugged into a
230 V line, the fuses will blow.
Check motor wire connection.
Check integrity of the following
wiring connections: from switch to
transformer, transformer to circuit
board, and transformer to voltage
selector switch. Resistance
between transformer pins 5 & 6
and 1 & 2 are approximately 10.6
ohms when the voltage selector
switch is set to 230 V, and 5.3
ohms if the switch is on 115V.
Replace the transformer if these
values are not correct.
Replace the blower assembly. If
the same problem continues, the
problem is in the circuit board,
since the transformer and wiring
have been checked.
Replace circuit board.
Check that the power cord is
firmly connected to the unit.
Check that the power cord is
plugged into a working electrical
socket (test socket by using a
known working lamp, etc.).
Check that the switch is not dimly
lit. If it is, the problem may be low
line voltage. Also, see the section
"Switch lights but there is no air
flow."
Verify proper voltage setting. If
the unit is set to 115 V, but
plugged into a 230 V line, the
fuses will blow.
