STEP 3
Set the unit upright. Remove the circuit board from the
groove in the unit base.
If the existing blower has a ribbon cable:
Disconnect the red 8-pin connector from J1 on the circuit
board. Pry the rear blower assembly fastener from the back of
the blower (see page 6-1) and remove the ribbon cable.
If the existing blower has eight wire leads:
Disconnect the white 8-pin connector from J1 on the circuit
board. Unlatch the black cable clip located on the rear panel
of the unit and remove the eight motor wires. According to
the unit type, remove the wires from the foam tape attached
to the blower, or remove the wires from a second cable clip
located on the rear panel.
STEP 4
Lift the existing blower assembly out of the unit and set aside. Place the new blower assembly on
the three posts, check that the shock mount studs thread into the posts.
STEP 5
Lay the unit on the rear panel. Place one or two drops of threadlock on the shock mount studs.
Place the nuts on the shock mounts studs, and firmly tighten. If the shock mount begins to rotate,
hold it in place with one hand while tightening the nut with the socket driver. Tighten to a torque
of 2 inch-lb.
NOTE:
The shock mounts must not twist or stretch beyond their normal length. If necessary, loosen
the nuts and adjust the blower alignment before retightening to a torque of 2 inch-lb.
STEP 6
Plug the unit in with the new blower subassembly connected to the board. If the timemeter is
running faster than normal, increments of 1/100 of an hour every 36 seconds, then a capacitor must
be added. If the timemeter is accurate then continue with step 9.
STEP 7
Connect a 0.01uF capacitor across pins 1 and 2 of the J2 connector.
STEP 8
Solder the capacitor, along with the diode already present, to the pins.
STEP 9
Set the unit upright with the rear panel of the unit facing forward. Route the ribbon cable/blower
wires behind the blower and between the two black transformer wires to the circuit board. Plug the
red or white 8-pin connector, (depending on the unit), to J1 on the circuit board; check that the
locking tabs of the connector are facing the edge of the circuit board. The connector must lock
firmly into place.
