Possible Causes
Blower or main circuit board
malfunction.
The air temperature at the patient
end of a six-foot circuit must not be
more than fifteen (15) degrees F
above the ambient temperature.
Before checking the difference in
temperature between unit
delivered air and ambient air,
check for the following: change in
room air temperature; increase in
room humidity; occluded air inlet
filter (particularly the ultra-fine
disposable filter) has become
blocked or dirty; or the patient's
condition has changed (has a
fever).
Humidifier is filled with hot water.
Unit is next to a radiator or other

Corrective Action
Step 2: Check the circuit board
by plugging a known functioning
blower to it. If the new blower
functions properly, replace the
blower. Refer to Section 6 for
instructions on blower
replacement.
Replace filter(s) if dirty, and
instruct patient on proper care as
detailed in the patient
instructions. Have the patient
take measures to decrease the
room air temperature or
humidity.
Instruct patient to use room
temperature or lukewarm water
in the humidifier.
Move the unit away from the
heat source.
Check that the pressure is
adjustable throughout the
operating pressure range with
the potentiometer on the circuit
board. Refer to Section 3 for
instructions on setting the
prescription pressure. If the
pressure range is not fully
adjustable, follow the steps
