Install the Passport 15000-VSS to enable putting into service the
Passport 7480 and Passport 15000 that are mounted together in a NEBS 2000
frame.
•
"Prerequisites to Passport 15000-VSS installation" (page 171)
•
"Passport 15000-VSS installation task flow" (page 171)
•
The NEBS 2000 frame must already be installed as indicated by "NEBS
2000 frame installation" (page 161).
•
The power source of the Passport 7400 must not be the breaker interface
panel (BIP) of the Passport 15000, but both switches must share the same
ground window.
•
Power and ground cables must be routed to the planned location of the
Passport prior to beginning this task. See the 241-1501-205 Passport
15000, 20000 Site Requirements and Preparation Guide.
•
The fiber link between the Passport 15000 and the Passport 7480 in a
Passport 15000-Variable Speed Switch (VSS) can be made using an
external OC-3 connection between OC-3 single-mode or multimode
function processors (FPs). The fiber cable requires SC connectors at each
end. You must provide the customized fiber cable and connectors.
•
When the OC-3 card pair has different laser reaches (SR, IR, or LR), you
may need to use in-line attenuators. See the procedure "Determining if
you need to use inline attenuators with optical FPs" (page 345).
This task flow shows the sequence of tasks you do to install a
Passport 15000-VSS. To link to any task, go to "Task flow navigation"
(page 172).
