3.9 Bulkhead Adapters

The Ai1 is designed with a wide variety of bulkhead adapters that allow easy expansion and customization of the Ai1
capabilities, in a simple to install design. The bulkhead adapters all use the M12 sensor connection system. Surge
protection is typically included with the bulkhead adapters, to protect the Ai1 from lightning induced surges on the
incoming lines. The bulkhead adapter includes a convenient earth point to provide the lowest resistance path to
earth to dissipate induced surges.

Pump Power and Direction Control

Provides high power pump control with reverse polarity for directional pumping. M12 connections are available on
two ports for increased current carrying capacity.

(uses Analog main board header, modified for pins 5 & 6)

Power Control Relay

Provides high power control with three terminals (Normally Open, Normally Closed and Common) with switching
current up to 5A. Terminals NO and COM are doubled up for increased current carrying capacity. Uses low current
enable signal (can be driven using analog channels 1-6).

(uses Analog main board header)

Regulated Power Supply Carrier and 1-Stage Surge Protection

Carries various regulated power supply boards for 3.3V, 5V, 24Vdc. Also may be used for 1-Stage surge protection,
with up to 3 user defined sensor connections.

Latching Relay

Provides low power control with three terminals (Normally Open, Normally Closed and Common) with switching
current up to 1A. Terminals NO and COM are doubled up for increased current carrying capacity. Requires 30mA
enable signal when switching (requires Vx1 or Vx2).

4: Green
RESET (Vx2)
5: Blue
Not used
(future version uses Analog main board header when transistor circuit added)

Analog Input Expander (SDI12)

Allows the connection of up to 4 analog inputs measured using a single SDI12 bus. Multiple analog input expanders
may be added to the one Ai1 with each using a unique address to identify. Analog measurements are made using
