display module to regain access to HPE OneView. Performing a factory reset operation on the frame link module disrupts
running work loads.
To return the appliance module to a known state for reuse (for example, to restore the appliance module from a backup
file).
If you plan to restore an appliance module from a backup file or to apply a fresh, new configuration, ensure that you
preserve the network settings and logs. If the appliance module is highly available (the View details command on the
appliance maintenance console show both active and standby operational), the factory reset operation will fail. Remove the
standby appliance module from an appliance cluster first using the HPE OneView user interface.
CAUTION: The factory reset action erases appliance data including logs, network settings, and managed device settings
in HPE OneView. You have the option of explicitly preserving network settings and logs. REST API calls and GUI
operations are not allowed during the reset action.
Preserving network settings is the safest option when trying to recover an appliance module from an error because the
appliance module remains accessible from the network.
In an appliance cluster, the standby must be removed before the Factory Reset operation can be initiated:
For Composer, remove the standby by using the Settings > Appliance Action > Remove standby.
For Image Streamer, see "Removing an Image Streamer appliance."
Prerequisites
Minimum required privileges: Infrastructure administrator
Ensure that all tasks have been completed or stopped, and that all other users are logged off.
Ensure that you have a recent backup, including user files.
Create a support dump file and save it to an external location.
When resetting or reimaging a Composer to a factory-fresh state, you must also reset all the frames managed by that
Composer to their factory-fresh state. However, if you intend to restore the Composer settings from a backup after it is
reset or reimaged, you do not need to reset all the frames. Restoring the system from the backup file restores the frames to
management.
