PTM Configuration using the Diagnostic
Port
10. After all tape libraries have completed the CALIBRATE ALL PTM's
command, set each tape library to On-Line starting with the slave units
from right to left. Bring the master unit On-Line last. When the master
tape library comes on-line, it issues a MODES SENSE command and
retrieves configuration information from the slave tape libraries. When
complete, all tape libraries read on-line from the control panel.
To configure the tape library for the PTM using the diagnostic port:
1. Connect a diagnostic PC to the tape library using a RS-232 DB9
connector.
2. Launch the diagnostic software from a PC.
3. From the Configuration Menu, select Multi Unit Configuration.
4. From the Multi Unit Configuration menu, select Configure Library Type
and select Single, Master, or Slave for the tape library configuration.
The tape library connected to the host is the master tape library and can
be any tape library in the configuration. The remaining tape libraries in
the system are slaves.
5. From the Multi Unit Configuration menu, select Configure Library Unit
Number and select 0 through 4 for the tape library unit number. When
facing the front of the tape libraries and beginning on the left-hand side
as viewed from the front, the first tape library is numbered 0 and
continues on until 4 (see Figure 5-5).
