8.4 Backrest

CAUTION
Exposed pinch points
Crushing, pinching due to incorrect handling
► Do not reach into the danger area with your fingers when folding the backrest up or down.
The backrest provides pressure redistribution and support for the upper body.

8.4.1 Folding the back support up/down

The wheelchair may be delivered with the backrest folded down. It has to be folded up and secured prior to use.
Method for standard back adjustment

Adjusting the lower leg length
1) If present: Remove the calf band.
2) Loosen the set screws on the inside of the foot sup­
port bar (see fig. 9).
3) Adjust the foot support bar to match the user's
lower leg length.
INFORMATION: Ensure that the foot support
bar is inserted into the swivel segment by at
least 40 mm.
4) Re-tighten the set screws on the foot support bar.
5) Hook the calf band in again.
Adjusting the foot support angle
1) Loosen the Allen head screw on the foot support
(see fig. 10, item 1).
2) Turn the foot support to the desired angle.
3) Tighten the Allen head screw.
Folding up the back support
1) Pull on the strap until the locking bolts are free (see
fig. 11).
2) Lift the back support and move it to the desired
position.
3) Allow the locking bolts to engage.
4) Check to ensure the lock is securely engaged by
pulling on the back support.
Folding down the back support
1) Pull on the strap until the locking bolts are free (see
fig. 11).
2) Fold the back support down onto the seat.
