3. Connect the red positive cable of the charger to
the positive terminal for emergency starting +.
4. Connect the black negative cable of the charger
to the - ground point.
5. Switch on the charger.
6. After charging, switch off the charger before
disconnecting it.
e For recommendations for a suitable charger:
Contact an authorized Porsche dealer.
Replacing lead-acid battery
The data on the battery casing is not enough to
identify a comparable battery that will fulfill all the
specific demands of a Porsche vehicle.
e Always have the battery replaced by an author-
ized Porsche dealer.
e Lead-acid batteries should only be replaced with
AGM technology (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries
that fulfill the specific demands of the vehicle.
Porsche recommends original Porsche batteries.
e A new battery needs to be registered in the con-
trol unit after installation in the vehicle. Visit an
authorized Porsche dealer. Porsche recommends
an authorized Porsche dealer, as they have
trained technicians and the necessary parts and
tools.
e Observe the disposal instructions for batteries.
Power interruption
Following a temporary power interruption, some
equipment must be reinitialized.
1. Store the final position of the power windows.

2. Teach wheels and tires in the Tire Pressure
Monitoring System (TPMS).
> Please see chapter "Wheels and Tires" on
page 300.
3. Store the final positions on vehicles with slide/
tilt sunroofs.
> Please see chapter "Slide/Tilt Sunroof" on
page 236.
Lithium battery
Electric shock, short cir-
WARNING
cuit, fire or explosion
Touching conductive parts of the vehicle can give
you an electric shock. You can cause a short circuit
when working on the vehicle's electrical system. The
short circuit can cause a fire. Many automotive fluids
are highly flammable, e.g. fuel, engine or transmis-
sion oil. Fuel vapors can combust.
e The battery should only be removed and installed
at an authorized Porsche dealer. Porsche recom-
mends an authorized Porsche dealer, as they
have trained technicians and the necessary parts
and tools.
Escaping electrolyte fluid
WARNING
and toxic gas
Risk of electrolyte fluid and toxic gases escaping in
exceptional cases if the battery is damaged or
handled incorrectly.
e Avoid any inhalation of the vapors and any skin
contact with the electrolyte fluid.
e Keep people away and on the side facing into the
wind.
e Only charge lithium batteries in well-ventilated
spaces.
NOTICE
Risk of short circuiting, fire and damage to the al-
ternator and electronic control units and
components.
e The battery should only be removed and installed
at an authorized Porsche dealer. Porsche recom-
mends an authorized Porsche dealer, as they
have trained technicians and the necessary parts
and tools.
e Always disconnect the negative terminal on the
battery when working on the electrical system.

The 12-volt lithium battery is located under the
plastic cover in the front luggage compartment. For
