Removing the fire extinguisher
If available in the relevant vehicle, the fire extin-
guisher is located under the passenger seat.
e Hold the extinguisher with one hand and press
the PRESS button on the fire extinguisher holder
with the other hand.
For a proper and safe handling of the fire extin-
guisher, please note the following points:
e Observe the inspection intervals for the fire ex-
tinguisher. If the fire extinguisher is used after
the inspection interval has elapsed, functionality
is no longer guaranteed.
e Observe the operating instructions on the fire
extinguisher.
e Observe the safety instructions on the leaflet
supplied by the fire extinguisher manufacturer on
the extinguisher handle.
e Have the fire extinguisher checked by an au-
thorized Porsche dealer every one or two years.
e Have the fire extinguisher refilled after use.

Caution when working on the vehicle
Hot Engine Parts and Hot
WARNING
Coolant
The engine and adjacent components, the exhaust
system and the coolant become very hot when the
engine is running.
The coolant reservoir is pressurized. The hot coolant
may suddenly escape if the coolant reservoir is not
opened carefully.
The fans can also start running automatically even
when the engine is stopped and the vehicle key is
removed.
e Stop the engine and, if possible, let it cool.
e Keep body parts, clothes, long hair and jewelry
away from all moving parts, such as fans and
drive belts.
e Take care when working near hot vehicle parts,
particularly the engine and exhaust system.
e Wear protective gloves that protect against hot
parts.
e Only top up coolant when the engine is stopped
and the ignition is switched off.
e Do not open the cap of the coolant reservoir
when the engine is hot. Wait until the coolant
temperature gauge displays a temperature below
140 °F / 60 °C.
e If you are not fully familiar with repair or mainte-
nance procedures, do not attempt the works de-
scribed in the manual. Visit an authorized
Porsche dealer, as they have trained technicians
and the necessary parts and tools.
Certain work to the vehicle requires the wearing of
protective equipment, for example, protective gloves
protecting against cuts.
e Have all work to the vehicle performed exclu-
sively by a qualified specialist workshop. Porsche
recommends an authorized Porsche dealer, as
they have trained technicians and the necessary
parts and tools.
Emergency starting
Starting the vehicle using unsuitable jumper cables
or following incorrect procedures can cause short
circuits and potentially a fire. A highly explosive gas
mixture can form around the battery during emer-
gency starting.
Moreover, battery acid and parts that start auto-
matically, e.g., radiator fan, may cause injuries when
working in the engine compartment.
Before providing or receiving jump starting:
> Please see chapter "Emergency Starting" on
page 118.
