Upgrading the Processor

To upgrade the processor, follow the installation procedures included with the
processor upgrade kit.
Remove the following components:
large access panel
security screw
processor cage
Loosen the thumbscrew to open the processor cage.
To install a second Pentium II processor on a Compaq Professional
Workstation 6000:
Remove the terminator board.
Install the new processor board. The board ships with the Pentium II
processor, heatsink, and Processor Power Module already attached.
(Refer to the documentation included with the processor upgrade kit
for more complete instructions.)
To install an additional (third) Pentium Pro processor on a Compaq
Professional Workstation 8000:
Remove the terminator board.
Install the additional processor and a Processor Power Module on a
new processor board. (Refer to the documentation included with the
processor upgrade kit for more complete instructions.)
Reassemble the workstation.
IMPORTANT: If you are upgrading from one processor to two or more, you
must install a new Multiprocessing HAL from an NT Support Software Diskette.
