The online scan process consists of:
• detecting the EtherCAT device [} 82] (Ethernet port at the IPC)
• detecting the connected EtherCAT devices [} 83]. This step can be carried out independent of the
preceding step
• troubleshooting [} 86]
The scan with existing configuration [} 87] can also be carried out for comparison.

OFFLINE configuration creation

Creating the EtherCAT device
Create an EtherCAT device in an empty System Manager window.

Select type 'EtherCAT' for an EtherCAT I/O application with EtherCAT slaves. For the present publisher/
subscriber service in combination with an EL6601/EL6614 terminal select "EtherCAT Automation Protocol
via EL6601".

Then assign a real Ethernet port to this virtual device in the runtime system.
